Williams v Hall 'Turf War'
Today Green Machine Boxing and SBW Promotions announces rugby superstar Sonny Bill Williams and hall of fame AFL premiership captain Barry Hall will compete in a heavyweight bout at Aware Super Theatre on Wednesday 23 March 2022.
Sonny Bill, 36 years old with a 9-0 record, stated that he is now concentrating on boxing to round out his highly illustrious sporting career and AFL tough man Barry Hall is a great stepping stone to bigger domestic and international fights. Sonny Bill said, “Barry Hall is inexperienced in the ring and nowhere near my class level. Tomorrow I will have a training camp with undisputed champ Tyson Fury to ensure I am 100% prepared for this fight I will take this win and move onto bigger fights over the next 24-36 months”.
Barry Hall has said he intends to make up for lost time due to COVID interruptions and build on his highly regarded professional fighting draw on debut against Paul Gallen. Barry Hall stated “he is hugely talented individual but has not ever faced anyone of the size or skill of myself. The lad has had everything laid on a silver platter in his boxing career to date. Sonny Boy has made a mistake in taking this fight I intend to finish his boxing career and open up bigger fight opportunities for myself”.
Four time world champion Danny Green, along with Koder Nasser will promote the bout. Green said that this is too big, strong, highly skilled lads that will leave it all in the ring. A win for either will open up lucrative fight opportunities going forward.
In a big move for boxing, the fight will be broadcast on PPV on Stan Sport.
